There are so many freediving retreat options out there. Let's make sure we are a good fit!
We pride ourselves on having the best customer experience in the freediving industry, so you can expect a smooth booking process, lots of communication, and dedicated 24h engagement from the team on retreat.
We’re a value-led company and everything we do reflects these values; please check them out!
We won’t force animal interactions for photos.
We rise early, dive a lot, have a lot of fun, and go to bed pretty early. It's probably not the one if you want to party hard.
The majority of our guests are in the 25-45 age range, but we host all ages 18+, so please expect variety!
Our customer base is primarily Australian, but we love hosting guests from all over the world.
We’re LGBTQIA+ friendly.
We really, really, really value great group dynamics and we are grateful for respectful, tolerant, drama-free people!
The atmosphere is often playful and silly - dancing, games, human pyramids, sports, dirty jokes. If this isn’t your vibe, there may be a better fit for you…
We pride ourselves on being an inclusive, supportive, and super friendly place. Our guests are all treated equally. However, if you feel you may need additional levels of personal support, please contact us first for an honest discussion about how we can facilitate this.
-
Everyone's welcome - both snorkelers and freedivers! If you're new to freediving, fret not; snorkeling encounters with seals are equally mesmerizing. And who knows, you might just fall in love with freediving!

For us, freediving is about joy, play, discovery, and feeling 100% alive. We create experiences around bucket-list marine wildlife encounters; the kind of moments you’ll be proud of for the rest of your life.
Our trips aren't 'cheap'.
But, per dollar spent, we're pretty sure they offer the best value.
We are ethically and environmentally conscious:
We choose legitimate, licensed, experienced operators who share our values.
We will never force an interaction or disturb/distress an animal
We control group numbers to ensure the safety and wellbeing of guests AND wildlife.
Where local laws require, we carry our own permits. We are currently one of only two freediving schools in Australia licensed to take guests freediving at Montague Island, Narooma.
We pay our team (but doesn't everyone? No). Plus, we invest time in their continuing development and hold them to higher safety standards than any other freediving operation.
Safety
We operate under industry leading safety protocols which have been developed over and above the basic freedive school standards (i.e. standards dictated by AIDA, PADI, Molchanovs).
We carry full first aid and safety equipment (Again, doesn't everyone? No.)
We perform full dive safety briefings and buddy checks before every dive. We also assign instructors to small groups as a safety point of support in the water.
True Facilitation
As pro facilitators, we know how to make you feel seen, heard, and supported. We're here for YOU, not for ourselves. Many freedive expeditions out there are effectively content creators letting you pay and tag along on their vacation. That doesn't fly with us. Guests are the priority and we are here for you, at all times.
Regular communication in the lead up to the trip to ensure you are prepared for your adventure!
From arrival to departure, you have a host and a team as a point of contact. You won't be left alone, working out where to go for dinner.
Schedules are documented and shared ahead of time. We don't just expect you to turn up and work it out.
We hold ourselves accountable to the promised activities. If something can't go ahead due to unexpected circumstances we will communicate honestly, provide alternative activities where we can.
We are transparent about costs and inclusions upfront. You don't get hidden surprises from us.
Convenient and secure booking process. No random sign up forms and bank transfers here.
A LOT of silliness and fun. Expect games, dancing, human pyramids, dirty jokes, and our signature Immersia Olympics…
Perhaps these things seem obvious. However, we can confidently say that right now we are running the safest and most legitimate freediving retreat operation in the world. How do we know? We research constantly AND listen to customers and staff members. We’re serious about being the best freediving operation on earth.

There is always an element of unpredictability when we are in the ocean and interacting with wildlife. Freediving with seals is no different. However, we follow extensive safety procedures to help manage the risks.
We have a team of freediving instructors and first aiders in the water with you at all times, and we will end the dive if conditions become unsafe. We conduct thorough safety briefings before the dive.
You will always be diving in a buddy team and we ask everyone to be upfront about their fitness and experience so we can place you in the best suited group!
-
Yes - as long as you work with licensed operators, follow the interaction guidelines and treat the animals with respect.
No animal interaction should ever take place at the expense of the animal, or against its will. We will NEVER chase, trap or touch a creature.
However, you’ll be amazed - and delighted - at how much these playful seals seek out an interaction with you.
We are one of only 3 freediving organisations in Australia holding a permit to snorkel/freedive with the seals of Montague Island. We follow strict safety and ethical guidelines in the water to ensure the wellbeing of all the animals including humans!

We run our Narooma Freediving Trips all year round. Every season has something to offer!
Seals
Around all year — they’re always the stars of the show!
Winter (June–August)
If you're keen on big wildlife moments, winter is often your best bet:Whales: Migration season! We don’t swim with them, but it’s surreal seeing them from the water — sometimes you can even hear them underwater.
Port Jackson sharks: Breeding season = loads of sightings.
Giant cuttlefish: Occasionally spotted if we’re lucky.
Visibility: Often the clearest water of the year (though winter storms can sometimes stir things up).
Water temp: Around 15–19°C — chilly, but manageable with the right wetsuit.
Summer (December–February)
Generally the quietest for marine life.
But the water is warm and dreamy — often 25°C or more.
Conditions are usually calm and sunny, so still a gorgeous time to be out there.
Spring (September–November)
Coldest water temps hit around September.
It’s the tail end of whale season — still a chance for sightings.
Port Jackson sharks still hanging around.
Giant cuttlefish become more elusive.
Autumn (March–May)
Baby seals! Seal pups are around and always a delight.
But the weather is a bit unpredictable — we’ve had both golden calm days and surprise cancellations during this season.
-
We will NEVER guarantee wildlife sightings because nature can’t be controlled!
However, rest assured that we have had a 100% success rate of swimming with seals on every trip we’ve done.
