Freediving is diving on a single breath — no tanks, no bubbles. It’s quieter, more connected to the ocean, and deeply meditative. Scuba diving uses air tanks and allows for longer time underwater, but has more gear and less freedom of movement. Both are amazing — just different experiences.

We offer a range of courses for different levels and goals, designed to meet you where you’re at. If you're unsure, reach out to our team and we’ll guide you.
Here’s a quick overview:
Freediving Taster: Perfect for those with little to no ocean experience who want to explore breath-holding and snorkel skills in a relaxed setting.
PADI Freediver Course: Ideal for those with some ocean experience who want to learn proper freediving techniques. A great fit for surfers, spearfishers, and ocean lovers ready to dive deeper.
PADI Advanced Freediver Course: For certified freedivers who’ve been training since their initial course and are ready to go further with depth, technique and confidence.

YEP!
Lots of our students want to try out a short taster course before committing to the full PADI Certified Freediver Course.
If you join a taster course and love it (we think you will), you can book the 2-Day PADI Freediver course and get an 18% discount!

That’s absolutely fine — most of our students are complete beginners. We specialise in guiding you through the basics of freediving in a supportive, safety-focused environment.
You'll learn breathing techniques, how to equalise, how to duck dive, and how to stay calm underwater. You don’t need to be an athlete or a strong swimmer — just comfortable in the ocean and open to learning.
-
Yes. You don’t need to be a competitive swimmer, but you should be confident in the water and able to swim at least 200 meters unaided. Our courses and trips take place in open water, so a basic comfort level with waves, saltwater, and swimming without flotation is important for your safety.
-
Freediving places unique demands on the body and lungs. If you have a medical condition such as asthma, heart issues, or a history of fainting or seizures, you’ll need clearance from a medical professional before participating.
Upon booking, you will be prompted to sign our medical waiver and to provide medical clearance if specified. We can provide a form to be cleared to support your doctor if requested. -
Participants must be at least 18 years old for our courses.
Participants between 15-18 can still participate, but we require a parent/guardian both be present at the course, and sign off on all waivers.
Participants under 15 - hang tight! We'll be here and ready for you when you're of-age.

Gear is not included in the course, but we got you! At the check-out, you’ll be able to add-on any gear hire you need. All dive gear is available to rent — excluding wetsuits. You'll need:
Mask & snorkel
Long fins (freediving preferred, but snorkel/scuba fins are okay)
Full-body wetsuit (minimum 3mm, ideally 5mm or more; 7mm scuba suits are available to rent from Dive Centre Bondi or Dive Centre Manly)
Weight belt + weights (only if you're doing a full course with instructor supervision)
Here’s a breakdown of each item. If you’re unsure, just reach out!

There are some basic safety and learning milestones you'll be guided through, but our courses are designed for enjoyment and personal growth first. You’ll be supported to try breath-work, duck dives, and equalisation at your own pace — there’s no pressure to “pass” everything straight away.
-
No stress — freediving is a journey, not a race. If you don’t meet the certification requirements during your course, you can retake them with us at no additional cost within 12 months. That way, everything stays fresh and you're supported to succeed.
